Stefan Kunze, Head of the Eastern Germany Representative Office of Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V. (HHM), is retiring. In recent years, he has repeatedly succeeded in positioning the port of Hamburg as a logistics hub for industrial and logistics companies from eastern Germany and in strengthening the port's good reputation.

Throughout his career, he has been particularly interested in inland waterway transport and the integration of this mode of transport into a trimodal supply chain. Stefan Kunze began his career in the 1990s as branch manager of Deutsche Binnenreederei in Dresden. He then followed the development of inland navigation until his retirement. In the last nine years, the trained freight forwarder was, among other things, Chairman of the Board of Elbe Allianz. "Stefan Kunze will be greatly missed. As an expert in the field of inland navigation, he has also set many trends," said Axel Mattern, CEO of HHM, at the farewell ceremony at the Elbe Shipping Day.

The graduate economist has also made a name for himself in the implementation of several EU projects. This also applies to his expertise in logistics. For example, Stefan Kunze was a member of the logistics advisory board of the transport minister of Saxony-Anhalt and a representative in the advisory committee for the development of the overall Elbe concept. "I will continue to make my expertise available to the best of my ability. But above all, I want to enjoy my retirement," says Stefan Kunze.

His successor has already been found. Roman Fürtig has been familiarising himself with the job since January. He is now HHM's new representative for eastern Germany and will also take on tasks in the area of inland navigation.

Stefan Kunze goes into retirement.
